Publication of book on "Data Protection & Privacy: Jurisdictional Comparisons"
On 30 January 2012, a conference was organised by Van Bael & Bellis at the Cercle de Lorraine in Brussels to mark the publication of a new book on multi-jurisdictional data protection and privacy, published by Thomson Reuters/Sweet & Maxwell in 'The European Lawyer Reference Series' and edited by Monika Kuschewsky, Partner and Head of European Data Protection Practice at Van Bael & Bellis. The conference was attended by key actors in the EU data protection field, including the European Data Protection Supervisor, Mr. Peter Hustinx.
The book aims to provide a comprehensive source of key information on the data protection and privacy regimes in 30 major jurisdictions worldwide and to serve as a reference guide for companies, legal professionals and data protection officers. Each chapter is written by expert local specialists with extensive experience in this field, and is systematically structured in a way that allows for comparisons to be easily made between the various jurisidictions. The book is one of the few of its kind and is also one of the first works to cover the recent legislative proposal of the European Commission for a reform of the European Union's data protection legal framework.
The book can be ordered from Sweet& Maxwell using the link to Sweet & Maxwell's catalogue website: http://www.sweetandmaxwell.co.uk/Catalogue/ProductDetails.aspx?recordid=4846
