Date: 07/02/2013It is with infinite sadness that I have learned of the passing away, this week, of Ivo Van Bael, my mentor of many years and the firm's co-Founding Partner. We will never forget the debt we owe to Ivo Van Bael whose international vision and resolutely independent spirit have been the inspiration for the creation of our firm. After his retirement from the firm in 2010, Ivo Van Bael kept a keen interest in due process issues in EU competition proceedings on which he authored a book published in 2011. My most profound thoughts at this moment are for his wife and their children. I share their grief having known Ivo for over 40 years marked by so many fond memories of our work together.
